Entangled atoms cross quantum community from one lab to a different

Trapped ions have beforehand solely been entangled in a single and the identical laboratory. Now, groups have entangled two ions over a distance of 230 meters. The nodes of this community had been housed in two labs on the Campus Technik to the west of Innsbruck, Austria. The experiment exhibits that trapped ions are a promising platform for future quantum networks that span cities and finally continents.
