Archaea could be choosy parasites

A parasite that not solely feeds of its host, but in addition makes the host change its personal metabolism and thus biology. Microbiologists have proven this for the very first time in a selected group of parasitic microbes, so-called DPANN archea. Their research exhibits that these archaea are very ‘choosy eaters’, which could drive their hosts to vary the menu.
