“The prime minister has been happy to declare Might 26, 27 and 28, 2026 (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) as public holidays on the event of [Eid ul Adha],” acknowledged the notification.
Pakistan would observe Eid ul Adha on Might 27, the moon sighting Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee (RHC) introduced on Might 17 after the crescent for the month of Zilhaj was sighted.
The announcement was made after a gathering of the committee held on the Pakistan Meteorological Division (PMD) in Karachi, with Maulana Azad within the chair.
Addressing a press convention, Ruet chairman mentioned that credible testimonies of moon sighting have been obtained from a number of elements of the nation.
“It was determined with consensus that first Zilhaj 1447 AH might be on Monday, Might 18, and Eid ul Adha might be noticed on Wednesday, Might 27”, he mentioned.
Eid ul Adha, also referred to as the “Feast of Sacrifice,” commemorates the Qur’anic story of Prophet Ibrahim’s (PBUH) willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah, a check of religion that was divinely interrupted and changed with a ram.
Moreover, the event is well known with prayers, household gatherings, and charitable acts, together with the ritual sacrifice of livestock, with the meat distributed to kinfolk, mates, and the underprivileged.
