Panel honoring producer-songwriter Henry Glover at Previous State Home Museum

Henry Glover, born in Scorching Springs in 1921, was one among America’s most influential Black music producers and songwriters. He served as a producer for musicians as genre-spanning as Grandpa Jones, the Delmore Brothers, James Brown, Hank Ballard & the Midnighters, Joey Dee & the Starlighters, the Charms, Dinah Washington and Sarah Vaughn. His songwriting credit embody tunes as various as “Ram-Bunk-Shush,” “I’ll Drown In My Personal Tears,” “Teardrops On Your Letter,” “Seven Nights to Rock,” “Cherry Wine,” “The Peppermint Twist” and “California Solar.”

To honor Glover, who handed away in 1991, the Previous State Home Museum is internet hosting a panel dialogue about his work and legacy from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18. Panelists embody Sherry Glover Thomas, Glover’s daughter; Chris Richardson, a self-described pop music archeologist who’s written extensively about King Information, the label the place Glover started his profession; Steven Kroon, knowledgeable musician who Glover mentored in Harlem; and Stephen Koch, an Arkansas-based journalist who profiled Glover for the Arkansas Occasions a pair years again.

Tickets are $10 and embody a field lunch. They are often bought here.
