Tory ministers accused of ‘rigging the principles’ to assist rail agency bosses get bonuses 

The Shadow Transport Secretary has accused the Tories of a “scandalous misuse of taxpayers’ cash” after it was revealed that extra rail operators have had their efficiency targets lowered, serving to firm bosses get bonuses.

The rail employees union RMT responded on X: “Reduce requirements, decrease targets, reward failure: The Tories abysmal railway legacy.”

A Division for Transport spokesman mentioned: “Efficiency targets are often reviewed to make sure they find yourself delivering significant enhancements for passengers, and we proceed to carry operators to account for issues inside their management.”
