Owls produce negligible noise whereas flying. Whereas many research have linked the micro-fringes in owl wings to their silent flight, the precise mechanisms have been unclear. Now, a group of researchers has uncovered the results of those micro-fringes on the sound and aerodynamic efficiency of owl wings by way of computational fluid dynamic simulations. Their findings can encourage biomimetic designs for the event of low-noise fluid equipment.
